About Us
Thanks for vising our site!
This site is written and maintained primarily by me, an owner of an AKC certified Silver Weimaraner named Barron.
Now, I’m not a Vet or a Breeder, but I’m passionate about the Weimaraner breed and I’d like to share my knowledge and experience with you. Let me tell you a little bit more about who I am and why I’ve created this site…
Pre-Weimaraner
I was raised in a household without dogs. Can you imagine that? No matter how much I begged my parents they always denied me. Probably because most children end up pawning the responsibilities of their pets off on their parents.
Pretty soon after I turned 18 I went to the local animal shelter and adopted Bear. He’s an Australian Shepherd mix who simply melted my heart. At first, Bear suffered from separation anxiety which is common in dogs. Whenever he was left home alone he’d get to work on chewing up the door frame, scratching at the front door, even chewing through the wooden gate on the side of our house.
Needless to say, Bear’s antics were quite upsetting to my Dad. Once Bear figured out Dad wasn’t going anywhere he calmed down and the separation anxiety subsided. Ultimately Bear and my Dad turned out to be the best of friends. My Dad takes “the Bear” everywhere he goes; to the store, to Grandma’s house, to his office. So my dog turned into Dad’s dog.
Why a Weimaraner Dog?Now the Weimaraner came into my life a few years later. My boyfriend was always interested in the Weimaraner dog breed because of their sophisticated look. He loved the look of their deep chest, their eerie eyes, their gray coloring, and their intelligence. We are both extremely passionate about this breed because of how special they are. I can't remember where we heard this phrase, but it's absolutely true, "a Weimaraner is a dog with a human brain". They are extremely intelligent and are devoted to their family.
Our First Weimaraner
On a Sunday morning we were both enjoying a nice cup of coffee at our local coffee shop. While pawing through the Sunday paper, an ad for Weimaraner puppies caught his eye. A local breeder was advertising Weimaraner puppies, with only one male left, going for $500. We quickly got the breeder on the phone who welcomed us to come over to see the puppies. We mulled it over for about a minute, and then we hopped in the car and jetted off to meet the new addition to our family.
We pulled up to the breeder’s house and they greeted us then took us to meet the proud parents. We got the approval of the pup’s parents before we were introduced to the Weimaraner puppies. You can just imagine how cute they were at 9 weeks old. Being an animal lover, I just wanted to take 'em all home! But we chose the last boy and headed to Petsmart to grab a few necessities before finally bringing him home.
Barron’s name was already decided before we even got him. My boyfriend had always liked that name because it sounds solid and regal. Barron recognizes my boyfriend as his master (the alpha dog), more so than me. He loves to be loved and raising him with my boyfriend has been an incredible joy.
Thank YouI really appreciate you taking the time to sniff around my site, and I hope you and your Weimaraner(s) benefit from the information and resources I’ve gathered.
