Choosing the Right Dog Breed
Why the Weimaraner?

Choosing the right dog breed can be very challenging when you don’t have a clue about your prospective dog breed.

Originally hunting dogs, Weimaraners can be very protective family watch dogs for their owners.

When choosing a dog, it is important that you have knowledge about the breed, the dog temperament, and his special needs.

The Weimaraner is an active dog which also requires an active and athletic owner. Weimaraners work well with sportsmen and the outdoor types.

History of the Weimaraner

This dog breed was originally known as Weimar Pointers raised for German royalty in the Weimar Republic of Germany in the early 19th century.

Weimaraners were used to hunting wild animals such as boars and deer, because of their excellent tracking capability and exceptional agility.

Weimaraner as a Family Watch Dog

Patience is a must in choosing the right dog breed. This dog breed is basically playful and devoted to the ones they love. They are also very intelligent and can easily learn commands.

However, they can also be temperamental at times, stubborn and utterly demanding, especially for your attention. Constant training is the key if you want to manage this wonderful dog breed.

Maintenance of the Weimaraner

Aside from the exercise, there is minimal maintenance needed for this dog breed. Its short and sleek coat only needs a little brushing from time to time and any hair that sheds will not be that visible on clothing or furniture.

When choosing a dog , you need to be sure that you not only meet your family members’ requirements but your chosen dog’s special needs as well.

Just like any other dog, the Weimaraner also has needs which you will have to consider.

A Weimaraner can be easily trained and openly devoted to its owner. If you have children who love pets then the Weimaraner is the perfect family watchdog for you.
