Ethical Dog Breeders

Discourage Indiscriminate Breeding

Ethical dog breeders produce healthier Weimaraner puppies, and, when you purchase from a reputable dog breeder, you increase your chances of having a healthier puppy with a nice temperament.

Purchasing a puppy from responsible dog breeders is the best way to avoid future problems. Their goal is to improve the quality of the breed. They go to great lengths to ensure that the puppies they produce are healthy and are placed in permanent loving homes.

The number of dogs that have been cast off, that die in shelters, that suffer…it’s just astounding! We choose not to support those that are in it just for the money.

They are clearly breeding for the wrong reasons and either don’t care or have no idea that what they are doing is wrong. Breeders who do not use care in their breeding practices, are simply NOT ethical dog breeders.

Code of Ethics

The Weimaraner Club of America (WCA) has established guidelines for the purpose of maintaining high breeding standards. An ethical Weimeraner breeder will be a member of the WCA and strictly follows these guidelines.

Finding a Reputable Dog Breeder

Assuming you’ve done your research on the breed, and have confirmed that a Weimaraner is the right dog for you, we’d suggest that you contact your local Weimaraner Club for a referral. Click here for the WCA’s list of local Weimaraner clubs.

You might also want to ask your local Veterinarian if they know of a reputable dog breeder. Adopting from a rescue is another great option, especially for people that don’t necessarily want a puppy. Rescues have tons of good dogs that are in need of permanent and loving homes.
