Gabby - Our Swimming Weimaraner

Gabby (aka Gabriella, Gab, Gabigail) is the youngest out of our weimaraners. She just turned a year old in September.

Her daddy, my fiance, is a veterinarian. As such, we happen to hear about a lot of dogs that need homes. We try to help out when we can. Gabby needed a home because her owners just didn't have time for her anymore. So, we gave her one.

I didn't know if I would like having a girl dog; all of our other dogs at that time were boys. I figured she would bond with her daddy more than me. He hoped that she would, since the boys all tend to think they only belong to me.

But 6 months after she joined our family, she's proven that she's more of a "mama's girl" than a "daddy's girl". Gabby's my little shopping buddy. We have four weims in all, but she's the one that usually ends up accompanying me to places around town. She especially likes the Dairy Queen : )

She recently decided that she likes swimming in our pond. All summer long I've taken her walking around the pond hoping that she would be a water lover (our other weims aren't that crazy about the water), but she had no interest in it.

Three days ago (thankfully it's not that cool here, yet, even though it's October) she decided she wanted to jump into the pond for a swim. I've barely been able to get her out of it when we go for our walk. Oh well, at least, I finally have my water dog.
